Q and NME front page analysis and comparison

Both Q magazine and NME share similarities in the use of presentational devices. The Mastheads both share the same colour scheme red and white. The colour red represents the theme of danger, power and love. In relation to the magazines the masthead implies the idea of power and superiority. In addition Q utilities a main image of a more mature group on a white background. This is eye catching and serves to draw on the readers attention whilst gratifying the target audience. The cover lines such as 'Exclusive New Interviews' indicates that Q can meet audience needs by delivering news that cannot be found in any other magazine. However there are some key difference's between the two texts such as NME is far more bold and colourful. It uses large typography and a variety of additional images to target its young audience. Whereas Q is far more sophisticated and appearing to target an older, more mature audience. Each magazine has its own brand of identity. This is evident in the colour schemes which are consistent throughout the front covers of both magazines.
